Synopsis

Set against the lively backdrop of Paris in 1899, as the 20th century begins to emerge, Moulin Rouge! The Musical tells the story of a young poet from England called Christian. He becomes fascinated by Satine, a cabaret actress and courtesan, who shines as the star of the renowned Moulin Rouge club, famed as the place “where all your dreams come true.”

As the narrative unfolds, Christian enters the cabaret alongside fellow Bohemians: Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and the Argentinean Santiago. At the same time, the production introduces the Duke of Monroth, a man driven by a thirst for wealth.

Moulin Rouge is a love story about two lovers kept apart by societal demands. While Satine passionately falls in love with Christian, she has been bound to the Duke by the club’s manager in exchange for funding the next cabaret show. As the young lovers secretly meet up, Satine’s wedding day steadily approaches. Yet, she harbors a secret from both lovestruck Christian and the wealthy Duke.

Akin to the 2001 movie, Moulin Rouge! The Musical’s score seamlessly blends original songs with popular chart-toppers, including hits that have emerged over the 22 years since the movie hit screens.
