Hamilton at Thrivent Hall

This February, Hamilton will be playing in Thrivent Financial Hall At Fox Cities Performing Arts Center , the highest rated venue of Appleton and the No.1 possible venue for this spectacular show. The critically acclaimed and award-winning Musical continues to tell its incredible story from town to town all over the world.

Getting its start off Broadway in 2015, The production was not the instant Broadway hit that it is today. Lin-Manuel Miranda has spoken honestly about its origins, starting as a concept album in 2009, with Miranda saying that he was “thrilled that the White House called me tonight, because I’m actually working on a hip-hop album. It's a concept album about the life of someone I think embodies hip-hop: treasury secretary Alexander Hamilton.” That singular performance gained praise and a well-deserved standing ovation from the audience at the time, including former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, and has led to Miranda’s completion of the Hamilton musical we see now.

Due to his previous experience in musical theater, Lin-Manuel Miranda has also gained influences from other award-winning theater pieces such as Les Misérables, which continues a common theme that tells the story of a struggle, and triumphing that struggle, instead of the usual musical theatre biases that tend to be very positive and happy. Hamilton is no different, being about the difficulties arising as an orphaned immigrant from the Caribbean who rose to power and became the first U.S. Treasury Secretary. With the utmost respect to its source material, the production shows us both sides of Alexander Hamilton’s rise to power, by not only showing us a glimpse into his personal life and struggle, but also his influence and lasting legacy in being able to significantly shape America during his lifetime.

With its story, the production continues to display its relevance in American culture and even on the international stage, confronting topics and issues that are deeply relevant not only to America, but also to the world. Even the use of musical styles of hip hop, jazz, and R&B as the productions score has cemented its place in pop culture, making it one of the most relevant hit Appleton musicals today.
